Amy Degnan focuses her practice in the area of government relations, including zoning, land use, and economic development. Amy represents property owners and developers before government zoning and economic development committees, plan commissions, and zoning boards in all matters related to land use and zoning. She concentrates on a range of zoning matters including planned developments, zoning map or text amendments, variations and special uses.
Before joining Georges & Synowiecki, Amy was the Chief of Staff at the Chicago Housing Authority where she managed the administration of a $1 billion agency and focused on public/private development initiatives to provide housing and services to over 52,000 Chicago families. She collaborated with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development and private developers to maximize resources and deliver safe and affordable housing. Prior to her work at the Chicago Housing Authority, Amy was the First Deputy Commissioner in the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development, focusing on real estate development, zoning, land use and economic incentives. Earlier in her career, Amy worked for Mayor Richard M. Daley on a variety of special projects focused on real estate and economic development.
