Effective August 1, 2021, Mark Hechinger is Of Counsel to the firm. Mark spends the majority of his time as the general counsel for the Easterseals, America’s largest nonprofit health care organization.

Specializing in healthcare, Mark has been general counsel for two national organizations including UNITEHERE Health, a hospitality industry welfare and benefit fund, and Sav-Rx, a pharmacy benefits management company. A former litigator, Mark focused on regulatory and corporate compliance.

Before becoming a partner at Georges & Synowiecki, Mark was the associate general counsel and chief health strategy officer at YMCA of the USA. In addition to handling legal and compliance work, Mark managed a team of 30 individuals who assisted in program development and implementation of chronic disease programs, payer contracting, and claims processing and submission in YMCA facilities across the United States.

Throughout his extensive legal career, Mark’s practice has focused on health care benefits consulting, contracting, corporate regulatory compliance, and litigation. In addition to providing clients with advice on multiple aspects of the Affordable Care Act and its regulations, Mark provided litigation support services to clients on various regulatory and compliance issues, including HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996), Medicare fraud, waste and abuse, Stark law and anti-kickback provisions.

Mark has also been a litigation attorney at a large law firm and a prosecuting attorney with both the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Illinois Attorney General.
